Ernie Ball has introduced Titanium Reinforced Coated Slinky Acoustic strings. They are available in Medium (.013-.056), Medium Light (.012-.054), Light (.011-.052) and Extra Light (.011-.050). Wound strings as well as plain strings are coated with a proprietary enamel that is baked onto the bronze wrap of the windings and plain string material then plated for additional protection. Both plain and wound strings feature reinforced plain steel titanium wire on the ball-end lock twists to prevent string breakage. The purpose of coating the strings is to make them less susceptible to corrosion and wear. The process of coating leaves the strings feeling very much like traditional uncoated strings, only slightly smoother. Credit: Ernie Ball.
