There is a cool article over on the Gibson site by Dave Hunter about tube amp distortion…..what it is and why we like it.
Like his last article on rectifier tubes Dave goes into detail about what actually happens when a tube distorts and how they distort. The result of tube distortion as we all know is a round, warm dynamic tone.
I for one am a big fan of vacuum tubes and have been for many years. There are a few products that come close to that sound and feel but to me tubes are like Coca-Cola….ain’t nothin’ like the real thing baby.
