I recently worked o an Epiphone acoustic guitar that had the bridge located too close to the neck. The guitar would not play in tune because of this. I could have removed the bridge, re-glued in the proper location and then have to deal with a finish touch up or I could have made a new over sized bridge from scratch. Instead I chose to route a new channel for the saddle about 3/32″ further away from the neck. This would allow the guitar to play in much better tune. You can see in the above photo the original saddle channel on the left and the new one on the right.
In the above photo you can see the new saddle channel only. I filled the old one with a piece of rosewood and stained the entire bridge so it would disguise the repair as best as possible. Also to note I had to remove the piezo pickup and re-install it into the new channel.
In this last photo you can see the new compensated bone saddle installed. In the end this guitar played much closer in tune. 3/32″ does not seem like much but when it comes to intonation it translates into a lot. I’m surprised that the bridge was set about 3/32″ off and that it passed QC….also that it even sold for that matter. There is always an option to get help an acoustic guitar to play closer in tune.

Testimonials:
David Nicholas - The 20watt amp is sounding fantastic! Delivered the goods at the gig and I'm finding cool tones all over the place with it. Love the cab w Emenince Tonkerlites too- perfect for my sounds! Makes the 12 string sound like a grand piano!
Peter Lacis - I had an audition for something recently that was all about Led Zeppelin I -- my custom Pennalizer BLEW THE MINDS of the guys I was playing with. They couldn't believe the sounds coming out of that amp. That album was never in my mind when I came up with the idea....so that's yet another testament to the amazing work that you do.
Scott Goldberg - I am very satisfied with the set-up, and the fast turn around. With the "lower" action it feels easier to play. I will definitely spread the word.
