It is a sad day for us guitarists. Guitar amplifier pioneer Jim Marshall has passed away at 88 years old.
Marshall was born in London in 1923 and was actually a drummer before going into business and founding Marshall Amplification in 1962.
He began making guitar amplifiers in Britain as a cheaper alternative to U.S. imports. Some of his early designs were based on Fender models of the late 1950’s. As they say the rest his history. So today we mourn the “Lord of Loud”. If you own a Marshall amp crank it up and enjoy the product of creativity. I have one here in the shop and will get crankin’ on it in a bit.
