PRS Guitars has announced a limited release of 100 Howard Leese Golden Eagle guitars. The new model will be available at select authorized PRS dealers in the coming months.
This limited edition model is based on the very first maple top guitar Paul Reed Smith ever produced. On the original guitar, the maple top came from a dresser drawer that a friend gave to Paul. The original guitar became Leese’s number one guitar for more than 15 years, and was on display at this winter’s NAMM show.
Some features include an East Coast curly maple top with a filled in drawer hole like the original, modified Santana body shape, old-style Mother of Pearl birds, vintage yellow/amber stained high gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish and a pre-factory Santana headstock shape. There are many other details that make this guitar unique and true to Leese’s original guitar.
