If you are like me and play a Telecaster most of the time, you know that the original style volume and tone knobs do not have numbers on them. Un-numbered knobs on guitars like the Tele can be a little difficult to navigate at times. One tip is to install the knob with the set screw facing you so when you see the set screw the volume and tone pots are full on. You can see the set screw at a glance and know approximately where you are. Obviously a numbered type bell knob as on a Stratocaster is more precise but with a little time and practice you can get a feel for the set screw knob. This tip applies to any knob without numbers and has a set screw.
