UndecidedHI Folks- I've got a Maple/rosewood 65 Mustang 24″ scale neck on a Fender 64 Jazzmaster body (Alder?) I'm considering Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge- and a p-90 in the neck? Would they compliment each other? I've been reading a lot lately about how some pickups are more suitable to different scale lengths and types of wood~

How about  Fralin Humbuckers- Gibson MIni-Humbuckers- - (Not sure if they would fit w/o routing the body) which I do not want to do~!  The sound I'm after is the Sparkling Led Zeppelin-ish (Stairway to Heaven <when the main bridge into the rhythm build intensity-/ Slightly dirty Heart (think Little Queen) - Basically Sparkling dirty- sound- I'm also thinking of wiring the Infamous Jazzmaster rhythm circuit as a Roller Dial Coil Tap to get more control over the coil tap rather than have it full on or not- All advice appreciated!

Well first of all the 24″ scale neck on the Jazzmaster body…does it intonate? If it does then to get that sparkling Led Zep thing I would consider Jason Lollar Mini-Humbuckers. If you want even more sparkle go with his Firebird type pickups. You can read more about these two types of pickups here: http://300guitars.com/index.php/articles/gibson-mini-humbucker-vs-gibson-firebird-pickup/. The Dimarzio Super Distortion is a fatter aggressive type of sound. P-90s are great pickups and Jason makes KILLER p-90s but they may not have enough sparkle. I think either the Mini HB's or Firebird pickups would work well with the scale length. You may have to route the body but I am not 100% sure. Contact Jason here: http://www.lollarguitars.com/. Another route would be to try the TV Jones Classis models with the P'Tron mount. http://www.tvjones.com/pickups/tv_classic.htm They will have nice sparkle and would probably give you what you are after. Also will work with the 24″ scale. Let us know what happens!!!

For myself, I'm a real big fan of Rio Grande pickups. There handcrafted in Texas and sound incredible!
